Well, since I just love free stuff, I decided to try out Windows Live Writer. I’ve grown rather tired of editing my posts in the WordPress window so this might be a very positive change. On another completely unrelated note, I’ve been busting my — working on the cabin. It is a TON of work, but we are making slow and steady process. Half the
It Was a Long Week
The first week of both my wife and I working has ended. (okay, it ended on Friday but I’m just getting to blogging). It was a rough week. As expected, it was a hard transition for my wife, after having been home for 3 years. Our daughter has also had some struggles getting used to daycare, but by the end of the week, it was
Received My First Issue of Money Magazine Today
Awhile back I decided to get a subscription to Money magazine. I checked Ebay but was disappointed in the price for a subscription. After going directly to the Money magazine website, I was surprised to see that they had the best deal. At less than 85 cents per issue, I felt I was getting a pretty decent deal. Well, I’ve browsed through the magazine and
Close Escrow on a Second Home Tomorrow
Well, I finally did it. I pulled up my skirt a little and bought a second place. We’ve been wanting a summer home of our own at the lake that our family has a cabin near. We bought a place from a friend of ours that isn’t finished. Basically, another friend of ours is going to help us build the place and we’ll just keep
Can A Country Boy Survive?
Awhile back I watched a series called “Country Boys” on PBS. The series was about two young men who were dealing with life in Kentucky. One guy, “Chris” lived in what I would call utter poverty. His family lived in a single wide mobile. His dad was a lifelong alcoholic that ultimately died of liver disease. His mother was an uneducated woman who drifted from
I Need to Stop Subscribing to Magazines
I don’t know why I do it to myself. I think I’m subscribing to the wrong magazines. I was so excited to get 4 years of Road and Track for something like $12 on Ebay. Four years!! That was a bargain, or at least it seemed so at the time. You see, I’ve always loved cars. The only problem is now I see every car
Emigrant Direct Not Doing So Hot
I left a comment over at Jonathon’s MyMoneyBlog and decided it was really worthy of a post on my blog. Since I work in IT, I’m pretty familiar with server loads and things of that nature. Most IT architectures I’ve seen, usually count on a percentage of Users accessing the server at any one time. In the case of web servers, that means you expect
Seeing a Trend in Housing Prices
It wasn’t long ago that I was sitting in amazement at the price of housing in my neighborhood and I’ll admit I was a bit giddy. Sure, I knew the party could end and kind of expected it would due to interest rates rising and other economic factors. Well, the party appears to be over. For the last couple years, I’ve had some saved housing
Cheating on Your Wife is Just a BAD Idea
Check out this blog. As if there weren’t already over a million reasons not to cheat on your wife, here’s just one more. This lady started a blog awhile back and recently found out her husband is cheating on her with her best friend. It’s actually pretty interesting to read the blog from the beginning (Goes back to June). Check out the sign she posted
Everything Under $25 now FREE at Walmart?
So, I’m not sure this is the greatest policy in the world. Why would you publicly come out and state that you won’t prosecute anyone for stealing things under $25? It seems like a huge invitation for questionable people to come in to your store and go to town. Another thing they said was that they wouldn’t prosecute anyone under 18 years old. WTF? So
