“A Los Angeles man who was once a regular sperm donor has begun connecting with some of the untold number of children he fathered in the 1980s.” “Harrison’s profile at California Cryobank in the 1980s made him one of the most requested donors, as it described him as 6-feet tall, blue-eyed with interests in philosophy, music and drama, he said.” I think my favorite sentence in
Tough Decisions Ahead
Well, these have certainly been some of the most trying weeks of my life. Things are slowly getting back to normal, whatever that is. I am taking on some large projects at work and am also spending a fair amount of time dealing with contractors and insurance adjusters from my parent’s fire. The good news is that we are getting closer to actually seeing real
I’m With Stupid
Okay, well I’m not really “with” stupid, but apparently they are everywhere. For the 21st consecutive month, my fellow Americans have spent more money than they’ve made. The national savings rate has hit a negative 1%. The only other time that we’ve seen this is during the great depression but there is a difference. During the great depression, people were dipping in to their savings
Moving On
Well, the funeral is over and we are slowly trying to move on. Of course it doesn’t help when you are also trying to get your parent’s house rebuilt from a fire. Too many items remind me of my dad and the constant communications with all the people that are working on the house and the insurance company seems to take it’s toll a bit.
Birthdays Without Pressure
It’s ashame that an organization like this has to exist, but I guess it at least gives me some sense that there are a few sane people left on the planet: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070122/ap_on_re_us/bi… I wonder why we’ve become so materialistic and competitive? Could it be the BILLIONS of dollars that are spent annually to tell us how to think?
Trophy Wives are on the Decline
Since I’m one who really finds myself annoyed with women who do little else in life than spend money on themselves, I found this article rather interesting. I’m much happier with a good looking, kind, caring wife who contributes to our household by taking care of our daughter, helping with the chores and earning some income. (And she does far more than that but you
Social Security Survivor Benefits
As I was sitting here navigating the social security website trying to figure out whether my mom is entitled to some of my father’s social security benefits, it occurred to me that maybe someone out there has had some experience with this situation and might have some suggestions. Situation: Father: 67 Mother: 62 and still working Father was receiving social security benefits (no retirement or
Tragegy Strikes
I apologize for the lack of posts lately. Our lives have been rather turned upside down over the last few weeks. It all started with my parent’s house catching on fire on Dec 17th. They were displaced and were staying at my sisters. Then, on New Years Eve my dad had a massive heart attack and passed away. I don’t want to ask how much one
My Super Sweet Sixteen Made Me Ill
Have you ever thrown up just a little bit in your mouth? I did today when I watched an episode of “My Super Sweet Sixteen” on MTV. They should rename this show “How Not to Raise a Child”. It all started going south for me when the show intro started. It basically shows a bunch of spoiled little girls posing. All these girls have one
It’s Christmas Morning
I’m just taking a quick break from the buzz on Christmas morning. My three year old daughter woke up this morning and immediately wanted to check to see if Santa had come to the house. She screamed with delight when she saw the cookies she had left out for him were gone and only crumbs were left. Once she got over the excitement that he
