I was recently doing research on the top careers that make $100,000 or more.
As I began to type in “how to make $100,000” Google’s recommended searches came up. And there it was “How to Make $100,000 fast”
Curiosity killed me. I wondered how often this was searched for, so I logged into my keyword tool and checked it out. Turns out it’s searched for tens of thousands of times per month in different variations.
So, if you’re wondering how to make $100,000 fast this is all I could come up with:
- Win the Lottery
- Receive an Inheritance
- Sell Your House
- Rob a Bank (Not recommended)
It doesn’t look like there are many ways that you can earn $100,000 fast. But it is very possible to earn $100,000 or more per year. The key is being patient and making smart decisions.
Here are four legitimate ways to earn $100,000 or more per year.
Choose the Right Career
Choosing the right career is the best ticket to earning $100,000 or more per year. And, this means getting a college education.
While there are some jobs that pay a high salary without a college degree this is usually the exception.
Here are a few jobs that pay $100,000 or more per year:
- Physician
- Software Engineer
- Sales Director
- Plumbers
- Actuary
- Welding Inspectors
And yes, a couple of these don’t require college degrees.
Network with Others In Your Field
If the starting salary at your job is well below the $100,000 mark but you know that you can eventually reach that level, you might need to broaden your horizons.
Network with other people in your field – those who you work with and if possible, people outside of your current employer. It’s important to build relationships with like-minded people. The people you’re connected to can help you throughout your career.
Work More
If we break $100,000 down into smaller chunks you would need to earn around $1,923 per week or $385 per day (assuming a five day work week.) If you worked eight hours a day that’s approximately $48 an hour.
Ask for a raise, work more hours, or do both. It might take you some time to get to that level of pay but small steps in the right direction will eventually get you to where you need to be.
You could also do some type of freelance work on the side to increase your income.
Start a Business
Another way to earn $100,000 or more per year is to start a business. Starting a business is a big risk but could also come with big rewards.
It will take a while to build your business up, but starting a business will always be a viable option for those looking for a high income.
You can also start a side business while working your full time job until you’re sure your business will pan out.
If you’re wondering if this is possible, it is. Here are two freelancers who quit their full time day jobs and earn $100,000 or more per year:
- You can read my friend Michelle’s business income update here. (Over $12,000 in January alone if you didn’t click through.)
- Or you can read Crystal’s post from 2011 when she decided to quit her day job to run her online business, which does very well.
What Do You Think?
There really aren’t any get rich quick tricks. Those who earn $100,000 or more worked hard in college and at their jobs. Sure, some people get lucky but hard work, dedication, and patience are three big factors to earning $100,000 or more per year.
