As a kid, I spent a lot of time at various amusement parks. We grew up within driving distance of Carowinds in North Carolina. Then, each year on vacation, we would usually hit one of Florida’s amusement parks or one of the parks between NC and Pennsylvania. That said, there is definitely a hierarchy when it comes to the best parks in the United States. Here’s a ranking of the top eight parks. Let me know if you agree!

1. Walt Disney World – Orlando, Florida

I am probably a bit bias, but I love Disney World. Some of my best memories are there and it is the gold standard when it comes to amusement parks. Known for its immersive experience, it offers four unique theme parks, including Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios. Each park has its own enchanting atmosphere, where visitors can interact with beloved characters and explore fantastical lands. 2. Cedar Point – Sandusky, Ohio

While I’ve not personally been here, this park comes highly recommended by many people. Often called “The Roller Coaster Capital of the World,” Cedar Point has earned its reputation for thrill rides. The park features over 70 rides, including 18 roller coasters that range from intense high-speed rides to more classic experiences. I’ve never been to Dollywood, but I know it’s loved by Tennessee natives and I plan to move to TN at some point, so I know I’ll make it there eventually. It is continuously rated among the best amusement parks. Dollywood, owned by country music legend Dolly Parton, offers a fun blend of traditional Southern charm and modern thrills. This park features a variety of rides, from the family-friendly FireChaser Express to the high-speed Lightning Rod coaster. Beyond the rides, Dollywood is known for its incredible live performances, showcasing country music, bluegrass, and other genres. The park’s rustic atmosphere, complete with beautiful mountain views, adds a unique charm to your visit. While I’ve not been there myself, there are tons of people online who rank this among the best of the best. My dad’s family lives about an hour away from Kennywood and it has always been a favorite of mine, though it’s lesser-known. Kennywood is a beloved amusement park located near Pittsburgh, known for its rich history and classic charm. The park features a mix of vintage and modern rides, including the iconic Thunderbolt roller coaster. Kennywood’s family-friendly atmosphere is perfect for all ages, offering everything from kiddie rides to adrenaline-pumping experiences.
