The Christmas season is upon us and it’s time to start thinking about gift shopping. If you really want to get a leg up on the game, I highly recommend you start early Christmas shopping.
Beat the crowds, get the perfect gifts and save yourself a bit of cash—here are a few reasons you should start early Christmas shopping.
5 Reasons for Early Christmas Shopping
You’re not rushing to pick gifts
No one wants to give the gift of a stale box of chocolates that you picked up at the convenience store on your way to Christmas dinner. Gift shopping is one of my favourite activities and I like to match people with the perfect pick.
When you start early Christmas shopping, you have more time to actually pick and choose the perfect gift for someone. So, you’ll have a better chance of finding something that you actually want to give.
Things are less likely to be sold out
When an item is a hot gift, it’s more likely to be sold out when you go last-minute to pick it up. Start early Christmas shopping to avoid low stocked shelves and purchase the gift you actually want to give.
As an added bonus, you can do way more online shopping if you’re purchasing gifts early. Shipping takes time and in the era of COVID it takes a little bit longer than usual, so give them time to arrive!
You don’t take a massive budget hit all at once
For me, one of the worst parts of Christmas shopping right before the date is the fact that you need to drop a large chunk of change at one time. Even if you have Christmas gifts in your budget (which you should), spending all the money at one time can be a bit painful.
You can avoid this cash drop by doing your shopping over a longer period of time. Lessening the financial burden, but meaning you have to hide presents longer.
Get better prices
The closer you get to the holiday season, the higher prices tend to be. It’s the reality of the retail business and while it’s not the case when it comes to everything—it’s the case for most products (especially hot items like toys).
If you want to save money this year, make sure to start early Christmas shopping. The sooner, the better. Not only will your list get shorter over time and you won’t have to drop a bunch of cash in one fell swoop, but you’ll also actually get a lot of the items you buy at a lower cost.
Overall create a less-stressful experience
I love Christmas shopping but finding the right gift can be a bit stressful, especially if you’re on a time crunch. The holidays happen at the same time every year so there’s no reason that you have to crunch everything into the 30 days before.
The gift-giving season is way more enjoyable if you do it over a longer period of time, instead of crunching it all together. So, do yourself a favor and give yourself some extra time next season.
