For the time being, we can’t hang out face to face with friends anymore, but there are still some ways that you can spend some time together over the internet. If you’re looking for ways to stay connected. Here are 7 of my favorite ways to connect remotely:
Netflix & Chill
Apparently this is not necessarily a new feature but you can Netflix and Chill (in a PG manner) with your besties from a distance by watching the same show at the same time. You can do this through Netflix, but it’s even easier to do this via Netflix Party the Google Chrome extension. You could even get yourself the best vpn for google chrome to make this viewing experience as smooth as possible, while also keeping you extra-safe online.
Skype Happy Hour
Missing happy hour with the girls? You can make your own happy hour via Skype. Is it the same as going to the local waterhole? No, sadly you have to make your own drinks. But it is a great way to relax and enjoy the end of a day with your besties even if you can’t hang out together in the same place.
Do a Virtual Workout Session
If you normally would go to the gym with your friends, then consider having a virtual workout shesh. You can do this via Skype, Zoom or other video chat software. Yoga is a great thing that you can do as a group!
Start a Virtual Book Club
Book clubs can be a great way to get together with purpose. This current quarantine state might make us feel awkward about hanging out digitally, but something like a book club can help us break the ice and feel a bit less awkward about it. So, find a book that everyone loves, read it, grab your wine and enjoy each other’s company.
Hold a Virtual Games Night
Who says you can’t have fun from a distance? There are a ton of great apps where you can get together virtually and play games. You can do this traditionally by playing a traditional board game like Scrabble or Life that allows you to play with friends. Or you can step it up a bit and play something that’s meant to be played via video chat like Shelter Charade.
Set Up a Private Chat
Facebook, Twitter, Instagram—these aren’t exactly the best places to meet your friend. Instead, open up something like a Slack chat where you can all hang out privately. Sure, you could do this via text, but it’s a lot easier to have a multi-conversation in a chatroom. You can also share documents, videos and other goodies.
Play Cards Against Humanity
Yes, you can play Cards Against Humanity (one of the best games you can play) remotely with your friends through Playingcards.io. Get some of your friends together and have a great remote game night.
Hanging out virtually doesn’t have to be hard. What are your favorite ways to stay connected?
