Spring is right around the corner and it’s time to start thinking about cleaning the house. That’s right, it’s that time of year. But before you start dreading the act, let’s talk about how spring cleaning can save you money.
That’s right, dollars in your pocket!
What is Spring Cleaning?
Spring cleaning is exactly what it sounds like: cleaning at the beginning of spring. However, unlike a regular cleaning cycle, spring cleaning tends to be a bigger undertaking. You’re not just mopping the floors and dusting the shelves, but you’re also cleaning out the garage and going through the storage room.
Here’s How Spring Cleaning Can Save You Money
As advertised by the title of this post, spring cleaning can save you money. Sometimes it’s by making you money, and sometimes it’s by helping you find something you didn’t realize you had. But, at the end of the day, either way, you have more money than you thought you did!
Find Things You’ve Lost
One of the biggest ways that it can save you money is by turning up things you need that you can’t seem to find and will most likely have to replace. For me this year that’s my Apple Pencil 2, and I’m really hoping I come across it.
Find Things You Don’t Use to Sell
Spring cleaning also helps you save money by giving you a chance to come across things you don’t normally use and giving you a chance to decide if you use them or not. If you don’t, it’s time to sell. Seriously! Sell that stuff right now! Bring in a little extra cash that you weren’t expecting.
It Gives You an Idea of What You Already Have
Spring cleaning also helps you unearth the amount of things you truly have. We tend to stare at the same things over and over again, which means that we occasionally forget what we have and what we really need. So, in that sense, it can save you money by making you aware of all the things in your house that you already have.
It Makes You More Productive
Clutter makes you unproductive, so if you’re someone who works from home spring cleaning really can save you money by giving you back time and productivity. So, make sure to give your office a really good clean if you’re hoping to bring in the big bucks.
Bonus: Do It Yourself (You’ll Save More)
If you want a bonus way to save money spring cleaning, then do it yourself. Seriously, hiring someone else is just wasting time! You need to see what you’ve got in your house and sell everything you don’t need. You’ll miss out on all that productive work if you give it away to someone else.
