I hate spending money on things that I shouldn’t need to. I’d like to think that I’m able to lose weight when I need to without the help of others but the reality is that I’m 25 pounds overweight and need to get rid of the weight for my health and comfort.
What am I talking about? I started attending Weight Watchers after the first of the year. I’ve been to two meetings and lost about 5 pounds so far. I’m paying roughly $40 per month to participate and so far I’m finding that I think it’s worth the money. Why?
I need to have a clear goal that I track in order to have any sort of chance of accomplishing it. I’ve tried to set weight loss goals in the past but never seem to make it to the finish line. I’m hoping by being accountable to the weekly weigh in, and getting tips on eating the right kinds of foods, I’ll be able to lose the weight as efficiently as possible. Even if it takes me 6 months to drop the weight, it will definitely we worth $240. I’ll be able to wear all those clothes in my closet that I’ve outgrown and avoid spending hundreds of dollars on new clothes and I will feel a lot better about myself.
So far I’m having a great time with the program. The fact that they have a GREAT Iphone app is helping keep me interested and making it very easy to track what I eat. I originally had reservations about attending the Weight Watchers meetings. I had this preconceived notion that it would be a room full of heavy older ladies and I was worried I’d stick out like a sore thumb. Instead, I found the room full of people of all ages and sizes, including a number of quite thin people that had accomplished their weight loss but still attended to help them maintain their weight.
Anyway, while we are going to try to limit our expenses this year and boost our savings further, this kind of expenditure feels smart!
