I know I’ve mentioned it before but I’ve always been interested in how marketing affects each of us. Billions and billions of dollars are spent every year to either directly sell to us, or to figure out what we want and what a company needs to do to get us to act. I’ve been compiling a list of slogans that I remember, either as a child, or more recently and have listed them all here. What’s interesting about my list, is that it literally shows what era I grew up in. Sure, I’ve thrown the skilled eye off a little bit by listing some more recent slogans, but many, many of these are from my childhood. Hours and hours of sitting in front of the TV being bombarded by these have impacted who I am today. What’s even more amazing to me is that these are just a tiny subset of all the marketing that I’ve actually been exposed to. I guess these are some of the more successful ones. Take a look at them and see how many you can identify with. If you are 34 and spent any time watching TV as a child, I’ll bet many are quite familiar to you. If you’d like to find more of them, check out Wikipedia and search for slogans. You can compile your own list. I only listed the ones I found that elicited some sort of a response when I read them:

Actually, when I read that first one about the Pringles, the first thing I thought was, “I’ve got a fever. And the only cure is more cowbell.” =)
