I was going to write a post about Oprah’s debt diet. (Their “finale” was yesterday) but I found that “It’s Just Money” did a good job and said pretty much everything I was thinking. One part of the show that I found a little annoying was their level of enthusiasm about declaring, “Great news. You are going to be a millionaire”. I guess I would have preferred hearing them say something like, “As you get your finances under control, the next step is aggressive saving and paying yourself first in tax sheltered savings vehicles”. Oh well, at least they made the point that the families needed to start saving. I wish Oprah would take this farther and keep it on the American public’s mind. I’m afraid that, while I’m sure it did help some people, it could help a lot more if she continued these shows. (And it’s the first time I’ve ever Tivo’d Oprah).
Anyway, go check out “It’s Just Money’s” article!

Hazzard, thank you for directing people to my post! I agree about the annoying enthusiasm over “you’re going to be a millionaire!” Lots of work and living to be done between now and then.
