I’m a Turbotax user. I have been for at least 5 years. Yes, I stayed with them during their whole “spyware program” episode a couple years ago. I was mad at them, but I just uninstalled everything after I was done with my taxes. I think they’ve learned their lesson on that.
Anyway, Costco has Turbotax Deluxe (which works for most people unless you have crazy complex taxes) for only $18.99 after an instant coupon. They’ve had it all week and Saturday and Sunday are the last two days. If you don’t have the coupon, just stop by the customer service counter when you get there and they’ll give you a whole book of coupons for the first three months of the year. You can also get Turbotax online at http://www.costco.com with an instant coupon, but then you have to pay shipping etc and that adds up to about $30.
Happy shopping. Be sure to pick something up for me while you are there….. :) (Electronics always make a nice gift)

Why bother going to the store or installing anything at all when you can use TurboTax online over the web? I have been happily using TurboTax on the web for 4 years now. Many banks and brokerages give a speical deal to their customers for TurboTax on the web. Currently Fidelity offers TurboTax Basic for $9.95 (Federal).

I had a terrible experience with Turbotax this year, though I’ve used that software for many years. It crashed or locked up a dozen times in a row, through reboots, reinstalls, whatever. Just awful software, at least for Macs. I wrote about it on fearlessmoney.com, and ended up going with Taxcut Online. I’m now permanently through giving Intuit any more chances. They’ve proved to me that they have no idea what “customer service” or “quality” mean.
