We are thinking about taking a trip to Disneyland in March. I’ve looked around and the best deal I seem to be able to find is directly through Alaskaair.com. Total price: $1200 (includes airfare, hotel, park tickets, airport shuttle, taxes).
When looking, I noticed that what the airlines seem to do is list ridiculous prices for hotels in their packages. While Alaska has “kids fly free” going right now, I really don’t save that much more than if I’d just booked separately.
Does anyone have any tips on getting the rock bottom prices for hotel and airfare?
If you do, please leave me a comment. My daughter is really excited about the trip so I’m hoping to book it soon.

I have a couple of thoughts. Until a baby came this past month, my wife and I had been annual passholders from the last three years. We received significant discounts in lodging from the passports. How long do you plan on staying? If you are staying more than, say four days, you may want to check Disneyland.com and see if getting the annual passport is worth it, because of the lodging discount that comes with it. Frankly, I’d try to book the plane separate. If something happens at the airport, there is no telling when you’ll get on if you have to standby; most often you won’t get priority.

If you are planning on Disneyland Florida, you might also want to try getting Airline fares to places like Tampa, or St.Petersburg. There are times when you can get flights for more than a $100 cheaper. Tampa -> Orlando is an easy 45 mins drive.

Buy air and hotel seperately. For hotel use use Priceline or Hotwire — check betterbidding.com for advice. If you want a rental car use Priceline/ Hotwire as well, but don’t use Priceline with kids for air. Check flyertalk.com for tips and deals on airfare.
